Productivity Self Improvement Tips

I’m headed out to Columbia, South Carolina today to speak to students at the University of South Carolina tomorrow as a college speaker.  I’ll be flying out of Buffalo, New York rather than my usual Toronto, Ontario airport.  I figure with connecting flights through Philadelphia and then Charlotte on the return trip, I will take about 12 hours in transit.  It’s a good thing that airplanes are a part of my productivity self improvement tips

As some might recall, a past episode of Motivational WebTV revealed what my favourite places were for success planning for both business and personal. If you missed this interesting video, catch it at Best Places For Success Planning.

One of my best places to do any work that requires focus is on airplanes.  If other passengers sitting near me are not social and if there’s no good movie on the flight, the airplane becomes a great place for me to do work.  Same thing with the waiting periods at the airport terminals.

Using Travel Time Productively

It’s a matter of using travel time productively.  If you look at most people at airports, they are bored out of their minds with nothing to do.  Some fall asleep while some look at whatever is on CNN News on the overhead TV monitors.

I on the other hand get quite busy with my laptop computer and notes.  If things get a bit noisy, I simply stick on a pair of earphones.  I’ll be focused on whatever work I’m doing and I end up doing a lot more work in a given period of time that at home.

So next time you find yourself in transit during your travels, make sure you bring some of your personal success planning notes or your laptop computer.  Use up the available transit time to your best advantage as you will find that instead of getting bored while waiting for your next flight, you can experience great productivity.

Self improvement to me includes being able to increase one’s productivity.  Many business travellers out there already know how to use their travel time the best way.  Then when they get back home after their trips, they will have more free time to spend with their families.  In my case, I’ll have more time for my two Lhasa Apso dogs Chester and Roxie.
