Self Help Tapes From The Past
The other day, I found some Brian Tracy self help tapes (on cassette) and since I still have a cassette player, I gave them a listen. This brought back memories of my first introduction to Anthony Robbins which was through one of this self help tapes programs called Unlimited Power which I talk about in a past episode of Motivational WebTV – see it at the Anthony Robbins motivational technique episode.
These types of self help tapes were very successful back in those days and they have easily been replaced these days with high tech in the form of CD programs as well as downloadable audio MP3 files. But even as the technology changed, the main premise for learning did not.
Many People Prefer To Listen
It turns out that many people out there, maybe even you, prefer to listen rather than read as a preferred method of learning. That is, instead of picking up a printed book, some folks would rather listen to an audio form of that book. Many say that the combination of listening and reading will help absorb information much better than either alone. I would tend to agree on this.
This is why I decided to come out with audio self help CDs which hold the audio version of my book, The Life Champion In You. In fact, when I make both of my printed books and CD programs available at my live talks, I would estimate that about 20% of buyers actually take the CD version rather than the printed softcover book even though the audio version costs twice as much.
Self Help Tapes Can Be Converted
If you still have some of those self help tapes lying around, it is possible to convert them to digital files as MP3 audio files in your computer. Just use an audio program like Audacity or Garageband to do this. This is what I’m actually doing with some of my music collection still on cassettes. The you can easily transfer these MP3s to either a CD or load them into an iPod so you can listen to these lessons from your original self help tapes either in the car or while working out.
