Personal Development Books

Let’s pretend that we’re Sherlock Holmes.  It’s said that successful people leave clues on how they became successful in the first place.  They are often doing a lot of things that most others are not doing.  One thing that business and success guru Brian Tracy recognized is that successful people tend to be avid readers of business and personal development books.  This is a huge clue!

They gobble up information that is related to their fields and have direct impact on their success.  Unlike most people who stopped reading books after they finished their formal education years (high school or college), successful people keep on reading on a regular basis.

This should be a really big clue to success for the rest of us.  I have adopted this mode of continuing education for myself as well as I try to read a new book every few weeks on the areas that interest me and this does include personal development books as well.

Develop The Regular Habit Of Reading

There is so much information out there and so many areas that need to be kept updated (examples are in business and technology), that further continued learning after formal education will help bring you towards success in your fields of choice.  Much of this information is available for free at your local libraries although for fields that change on a rapid basis, it’s best to get the latest resources at your retail bookstore instead.

I particularly like to read for about 20 to 30 minutes just before going to sleep at night.  This is when everything is pretty quiet and I can focus on reading in my bedroom.  Even my dogs are half asleep by this time.  Oh, you want to read about dogs?  See my dog website.

Many people like to read first thing in the morning while others like to do it during breaks or even during commuting.  All of these time periods are great as long as they are allowing you to continue learning about useful knowledge to help you become more successful.

If you haven’t read a book for some time and want to really increase your level of success in your life, it’s time for you to start reading again.  Get books related to your fields as well as a few general personal development books too.  I would humbly suggest that you check out my contribution to this genre, ‘The Life Champion In You’.

I did a past episode of Motivational WebTV all about reading yourself to success.  Check it out at Success Reading.
