Get Outdoors To Experience Nature Even During COVID-19 Pandemic

Fall season colours have arrived in Canada and this past week I took my little Lhasa Apso dog Roxie with me on a short road trip. We stayed over night in the Ontario town of Bracebridge where we enjoyed a nice walk along its river before heading up to Algonquin and Arrowhead Provincial Parks to take in the autumn leaves on trees which ranged from orange to yellow to red (as well as green).

Even despite that we still have the COVID-19 pandemic with Toronto as a hotspot for infections, we were still able to get out a few hours north where its relatively quiet. I think this is very worthwhile as one can enjoy peace and quiet up in the great outdoors where there are very few other people around.

Most of the trails at both Algonquin and Arrowhead near the town of Huntsville were quite quiet with only the occasional sound of a bird every now and then. Being out there with my little dog was definitely great for the soul!

It’s interesting that when I was still a y0ung man in my twenties, I never really appreciated nature as I just wanted to stick around in the excitement of a city. My excuse for not really getting into nature was my dislike of bugs. Now that I’m older, I still hate bugs but the fall season does not have too many bugs out there. So now I’m really appreciating the time spent outdoors especially with Roxie. We are taking our time for some great unrushed moments out there, especially since now that she’s fifteen years old.

I would totally recommend that everyone try to get out there to areas where there’s lots of nature and few people around. You may have to drive out a bit further but it will be totally worth it especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. Stay safe.
