Fall Fitness Program

Labour Day was the final day of my summer fitness schedule since it was the last day my outdoor swimming pool was open.  The summer program was a huge success as I made it into the swimming pool three times per week as planned.  I did however, have to swim a few times in the rain to keep this commitment but it was very light rain during those times.

Now that my swim season is over, I immediately switched over to my fall fitness program.  The new schedule was simply a matter of replacing the swim days with something else as I didn’t want to change every single day.  This made for a smoother transition as the days scheduled for my weights strength training remain the same.

Here is how my fall fitness program looks.

Mondays – Martial Arts Forms & Stretch

Tuesdays – Martial Arts Weapons & Stretch

Wednesdays – Weights Strength Training & Super Stretch

Thurdays – Martial Arts Forms & Stretch

Fridays – Martial Arts Weapons & Stretch

Saturdays – Open Day

Sundays – Weights Strength Training & Super Stretch

So my martial arts workouts have effectively doubled for the fall season compared to the summer schedule.  This is okay by me as the summer program basically maintained my martial arts while increasing my cardio fitness through the swim workouts.

Pre-Ski Season Training

Now for the autumn, I get to improve on my martial arts instead of just maintain my techniques.  I will also increase the intensity of my leg exercises during my weights strength training sessions to help prepare for my winter ski season.  This will give me a few months to prepare as pre-ski season training so that I will get through my entire ski season which will likely start mid to late December with a minimum of four days per week on the slopes.

Missed my last Motivational WebTV video featuring ski footage?  Catch the final one from last winter’s ski season when I showed folks what I see on an actual ski slope in Quebec.

I like the fall fitness program a lot especially the extra martial arts weapons workouts I do outdoors as the temperatures are not too uncomfortably hot.  My outdoor backyard area is really the only place I can effectively train with my martial arts weaponry since I use long weapons such as the bo staff.  Once the winter comes, I probably won’t be doing anymore weapons outside although I have been known to try a bit during the open day Saturday, just so that I won’t forget my weapons forms over the winter.

Never seen me use my bo staff?  Catch an actual bo staff performance here.

The open day Saturdays are for any activity that I feel like doing that day.  It can be a group fitness activity like a hike or perhaps rollerblading.

Longer Dog Walks During Fall

Although I already take my two Lhasa Apso dogs Chester and Roxie out each day as weather permits, we will do slightly longer dog walks during the fall season since temperatures are much more comfortable for them (as well as myself).  They don’t go out as much during the winters so the autumn season gives us the chance to get them in tip top shape before the slightly less active winter season for them.

This fall fitness program will see me through for at least the next three and a half months until there is enough snow to start my ski season full blast.
