A Beautiful Cheetah Family In Tanzania
In addition to lion cubs which I saw in my incredible sighting of lions reuniting with their cubs, I wanted to see cheetah cubs since the ones I saw on YouTube before my African safari trip were just as cute as the lion cubs. I wanted to compare the two in real life to see which one was cuter.
Unfortunately my first cheetah sighting on safari was not a happy one as my safari guide Leo and I came across a dead cheetah cub by a tree. According to Leo, this poor cheetah cub was killed by a lion. Interestingly enough, the lion did not eat this cub and just left it there after killing it. Leo thinks that the lion probably did this to limit the future competition for game which of course shouldn’t be a good reason since there’s plenty of game out there but this is nature and life in the African wild.
My next cheetah sighting fortunately was happier when we spotted three cheetah brothers in the Serengeti and I was lucky to capture them on my Serengeti animals video. Even I loved this sighting, I still wanted to see live cheetah cubs and it was on my final day in the Serengeti when we finally saw some. This was a beautiful cheetah family of three with a mom and her two cubs.
The cheetah cubs were older and therefore bigger than the smaller ones I was hoping to see as they were almost as big as their mom, ie., teenage equivalents. They were obviously quite use to seeing safari vehicles as a few including us were parked in front of them by a tree they were relaxing under. They didn’t really mind us as they didn’t run away.
I shot some nice video footage of this beautiful family and had a lot of time just to admire them while they chilled out at the tree which made this experience one of my top ones from my safari despite these cheetah cubs being a bit bigger than I had hoped for.
