Another Group Of Elephants In Thailand

Another Group Of Elephants In Thailand

The best overall experience from my last Asia trip in November was my visit with the elephants in Thailand through Pattaya Elephant Sanctuary. It was such a magical experience that I wanted to do it again on this current trip but I thought that I would try another group called Pattaya Jungle Elephant Sanctuary.

At Elephant Jungle Sanctuary

The day started out in a similar way with a free hotel pickup to the sanctuary and the first interaction with this group of elephants is feeding them bananas and cut watermelon. Then we mixed up a special vitamin rice mixture into balls and fed them too. This sanctuary then did some activities which were different from the other one I visited as they showed us how they take elephant dung and make biodegradable paper sheets out of them.

When the water activities with the elephants came around, we started by applying a mud bath to each elephant which was different. They seemed to enjoy this. Then as with the other sanctuary we were handed brushes and washed each elephant. I can sense the elephants just love being pampered by everyone.

One extra service this sanctuary provided was have a staff photographer capture photos of us with the elephants throughout the morning and then post them online. We were able to download these pictures photos for free.

In addition, this sanctuary left us with a tie dyed handkerchief which we coloured and a nice tote bag. These were nice extras which made this sanctuary a bit different from the one. However the water fight we had with two of the elephants from the first sanctuary made that one a bit more fun compared to this one but both were worth visiting in my opinion. Both of these sanctuaries gave magical interactions with elephants and both are ethical in that they do not allow elephant riding.

Once again much like with the elephants I met during my first sanctuary visit last fall (which has a longer video than this one), this second set of Asian elephants (which are smaller than their African counterparts) turned out to be gentle giants who stole my heart. This experience was easily a top highlight of my month long stay in southeast Asia.
