Press Release May 2010
Diversity Motivational Speaker Clint Cora
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Karate World Champion
Helps Muslim Students Bridge Cultural Gaps
Martial
arts motivational speaker’s visit to Islamic school will be a victory
for GTA diversity
Mississauga,
Ontario, Canada – May 17, 2010 - There will be a very unique event at
the ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) High School in Mississauga,
Ontario. The ISNA’s private high school for Muslim students
will
have a special non-Muslim guest on Thursday June 3, 2010 as part of
their Youth Leadership Day. Past member of the Canadian
National
Karate team, Karate World
Champion,
author and motivational speaker Clint Cora will be making a rare visit
to the school to present a special talk just for these
students.
His appearance will be very significant since it will help bridge
cultural gaps in the GTA.
Due
to past incidents both abroad and even right here in the greater
Toronto area, the Muslim community has unfortunately and wrongfully
suffered a negative image in some of the Canadian ’s
eyes.
As a consequence, the community including these young high school
students sometimes feel it difficult to integrate with the rest of
Canadian society.
Clint
Cora, who is of Chinese-Canadian background, is in a position to help
these students as he says, “One thing my community has in common with
the Muslim community is that we are both visible minorities
here.
However, us Chinese have been here in Canada for many more years and
therefore we have a lot of experience as visible minorities that we can
share to help others.”
Cora
will be doing a special presentation customized just for the ISNA
audience. The students and staff will be getting a
taste of
the high energy talks that Clint Cora does on a regular basis at companies,
conferences and other events. His talks also include very
entertaining martial arts weaponry to highlight key points for
achieving success.
Cora
praises the ISNA as he says, “This is a major step for the ISNA as they
are making a huge effort to learn how to reach out to others.
I
feel so honoured to be a part of this event. It will be a
real
victory for diversity here in Ontario.”
Clint
Cora’s presentation at ISNA located at 2200 South Sheridan Way (just
west of Southdown) will start at about 9 am on June 3 and press members
are invited to set up on site at 8:30 am.
