Motivational Stories

Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford motor company of course, once said;

'If you think you can, you can.  If you think you can’t, you’re right.'

This is a rather well known inspirational quote loved by self help enthusiasts.  Of course what he’s suggesting is that you have to be positive about the goals you want to achieve.  If you are negative or approach your goals with a lack of confidence, the chances of success are much lower.

One of the most awesome motivational stories and being positive that I have ever seen was in a video I saw on the internet.  It was about a lady named Barbara Guerra.  Like other new mothers with a toddler, she had to do all the typical things that other mothers had to do like feeding, bathing and playing with her baby.  Changing diapers and doing laundry of course were also part of the routine.

Like other mothers, on top of the baby care, she also had to drive to the grocery store to buy groceries.  I’m sure that all of the mothers out there can identify with just how challenging motherhood is.  But here’s the awesome part.  Barbara does all of this work, including driving a vehicle, without the use of arms!  This is because when Barbara was a child, she lost both of her arms in an electrical accident.  She learned to use her feet to do what other people usually do with their hands.

But despite this huge setback, she was still determined to get married and start a family to become a mother.  She obviously thought very positively that she could indeed be a capable mother even without the use of arms.  She refused to let her handicap stop her from having a life of motherhood.

So next time all of you parents, both moms and dads, get bogged down by the stress of being a parent, think about Barbara Guerra.  Again, if you think you can, you can.  If you think you can’t, you’re right.

What an incredible way to end 2009 with one of the most motivational stories.
I would highly recommend that you do an internet search to find a video of Barbara.  I even wrote about her in my self help book The Life Champion In You.  I guarantee you that it will be one of the biggest mega doses of motivation and inspiration you will ever see or read.

Until the New Year when I bring more motivational stories, I wish you and your family a safe, wonderful holiday season.
