Motivational Short Stories
One of the greatest inventors
ever, Thomas Edison, once said;
'If we did all the things
we are capable of doing, we would literally astonish ourselves.'
Here's one of my own personal motivational short stories to share with
I was a kid growing up, I was a terrible swimmer. I couldn’t
tread water. I couldn’t swim the length of a pool.
not comfortable in deep water. I absolutely hated any
sessions at school and tried to get out of them whenever I can (I
wasn't really thinking about personal growth back then!).
during one year at high school, I ended up with the swim coach as my
gym teacher and you guessed it, he made us do lengths in the school
swimming pool. Those were tough sessions but he forced us
through. As a result, I actually started to be able to swim
entire lengths of the pool.
During my adult years, I included
swimming as a regular fitness activity. Then one day, I
to try scuba diving at a local pool just to see what it was
I thought about the possibilities of being in the water with beautiful
marine life so soon after that, I registered for the certification
course as part of my own personal growth. I got certified as
scuba diver in 1999.
Several months later, I took an advanced
scuba course down in Key Largo, Florida and my instructor took us down
on a deep dive to see a sunken Coast Guard ship called the
It was down on the ocean floor at 110 feet depth. There were
beautiful giant gray angelfish and barracuda hovering near the
ship. At that moment, I thought to myself, what a long way
come from that kid who could barely swim at school to now scuba diving
on a shipwreck 110 feet deep in the ocean.
Since then, I’ve
scuba dived in various locations around the world. I’ve dived
with all sorts of wonderful marine life including dolphins, stingrays
and sharks. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I
be doing something like that. It’s been an awesome journey
I’ll still continue to dive as a regular sporting activity.
if you ever feel a desire to do something that you’ve never done, like
try a new sport, travel to an exotic location, learn a new language or
change careers, don’t automatically dismiss and then forget about that
thought like most people will. Do some research and see what
might be involved. If it turns out to be feasible, then check
out and try it. You could surprise yourself. Who
knows? Like Thomas Edison said, you might just astonish
the way, since we are approaching the holiday gift buying season, do
you know people on your gift list who could benefit from my personal
growth book "The
Life Champion In You"? Many people at my talks get extra
as gifts for others. This would make a very special gift with
important success skills that another person can use for
life. My book/CD page and those awesome calendars are at:
