Inspirational Qoutes

Happy New Year!

To help you start 2011 right, I wanted to bring out one of the strongest inspirational qoutes I know and demonstrate it on video.  This is a inspirational quote so profound that I hope you will always be influenced by it especially if life challenges come our way.

Whenever I saw athletes like ski racers and hockey players tear their ACLs (anterior cruciate ligaments) on TV this past year, I just cringed because the same thing happened to both of my knees in the past.  I knew how it felt and also what they would be facing in the next year or so.  Major knee surgery is required to replace a torn ACL and the surgery itself is actually worse than the initial injury in many ways.

After my surgeries, I lost all flexibility and strength in my legs.  I couldn’t do martial arts with my legs for a few months but I still wanted to keep training so I focused on my upper body techniques instead.  I actually became stronger with my upper body techniques and in the end, my martial arts became better as a result.

This brings us to the powerful quote by Albert Einstein where he said, “In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity”.

In my case, the ‘difficulty’ was my ACL injuries while the ‘opportunity’ was the chance to really improve my upper body, which ultimately resulted in more victories in martial arts competitions for me.

So next time you face a challenge, step back and really think hard about what opportunity (which might be hidden) can come out of it.  It’s just may be something that can benefit the same area of life as the challenge or even another area of life altogether.

Einstein’s quote is nice and short so it’s easy to remember and we should all keep this one in the back of our minds for easy access throughout this year and all future years.  More inspirational qoutes to come.
