I’ve always said during my talks that motivation is something that we all need in order to achieve our goals. This is even the case with those of us who are already quite successful in life. In order to continue to be successful, we must continue to get motivated on a regular basis. For those of us in the sales related professions, this concept is especially relevant and something that company management should take note of particularly during sales meetings.
Motivational Sales
Speaker Clint Cora
I was in the pharmaceutical industry for over fourteen years as both a sales representative calling on physicians as well as a national sales manager who trained and coached pharmaceutical sales reps. I know that the rewards of being in sales can be extremely satisfying but there are potential obstacles that all sales professionals in this field have to deal with.
Most professional sales representatives in pretty well any industry or field will probably spend a lot of time in the field working alone without the company of office colleagues all day long. This can be quite a lonely existence at times especially during business out of town travel.
Sales professionals also have to deal with tough customers who could be totally indifferent or even object to your company’s products or services. Sometimes such customers can be down right rude.
Of course we have to get past the office gatekeepers to the real decision makers in each company we call on. In fact, there could be a few layers of such gatekeepers in an organization.
All of these obstacles in the field can be a real test to not only the sales professional’s skills but also how well one can keep motivated to take on such challenges each working day. The need to motivate a sales force cannot be underestimated.
Management must ensure that sales motivation is not lost over time because demotivated sales forces will not be very productive in the field. This is true no matter which industry whether we are dealing with real estate agents, pharmaceutical sales representatives or industrial sales. Regular motivation must be present for sales forces involved in either business-to-business and business- to-consumer sales.
Management must do everything in its power to help keep their sales forces motivated with regular encouraging contact, upbeat sales meetings and good incentives for performance. Presenting current sales figures is a necessity and usually neutral at best in terms of motivation. Additional training is good but will be motivational only if the people recognize the benefits. And of course, recognition for high achievers is always a good thing especially to those being recognized.
The sales meetings are also where a business motivational sales speaker can come in to help out company management to motivate everyone for upcoming business cycles. Having the right speaker who understands the selling process will be even better. If a motivational speaker has already been through many years in the sales field, there will be a better connection with the audience.
Staff dealing with customer service also needs to be motivated on a regular basis. In fact, every one of us needs to keep motivated regularly even if we are not sales professionals or involved in customer service. Motivation is just like vitamins as we need regular doses of it. Getting the right business motivational sales speaker for your next company meeting will go a long way in helping your staff get their needed dose.
