Simple Things In Life Are Best

Many people believe that once we are more successful financially and can splurge on expensive things, we will be living better.  That is not always the case as sometimes it’s the simple things in life which are the best.  As you know, many rich and famous celebrities are still not happy with their lives.  Unfortunately, many of these cases end up in disasters.

Last fall, I started a Meetup group for owners of small dogs in the Mississauga Toronto area.  I wanted my two Lhasa Apso dogs Chester and Roxie to have a social life since their dog neighbour moved away.  So I created a new Meetup group called Mississauga GTA Small Dogs Outings  to get other owners and their small dogs together once or twice per week to go out on dog walks as well as visits to local leash free dog parks with us.

We started getting a few regular members and their small dogs out with Chester and Roxie.  These other dogs became new friends for my two over time since they started seeing each other on a regular basis.  They formed a dog pack much like their own club of members.

Several months later now, we have over 130 members and a regular group of small dogs coming out with us each week.  One of our most recent outings, a dog walk through one of our nicest nature trails in town, was captured on video for the very first time.

Example Of Small Dogs Meetup Group Dog Walk

We took enough decent video footage to turn it into a short entertaining clip.  The video shows our initial gathering of dogs and their owners followed by the dog walk through the nature trail.  Then at the end, we see all the dogs relaxing and mingling after the walk as the owners watch.

When you watch this video, you can sense that the dogs are quite happy to be in this group outing.  Dogs are naturally pack animals and since most of our member dogs come from single dog families, our outings have become a much welcome social outlet for them each week.  It’s like they can’t wait to see their friends after a week of not seeing many other dogs at home.

Watching our small dogs interact is quite entertaining for us dog owners.  So our dogs’ happiness results in our own happiness as well.  Throw in the fact that both the dogs and their owners are out for some fresh air and exercise in addition to the social component, our outings become very enjoyable for all, both dogs and humans.

This video is an example of our small dogs Meetup group outing where everyone has a good time.  Another nice bonus is that since these are local nature trails, there is no cost to use them as they are public parks maintained by the city.

So this is solid proof that sometimes quite often, it’s the simple things in life like taking a nature trail walk during a pleasant summer evening which turn out to be the best.  It’s not the latest rich gadget or designer wear that is bringing us happiness.

It’s just a group of like minded dog owners who want to give their pets some opportunities to meet dog friends and socialize.  Add in the health and social benefits with the free cost, it really can’t be beat.

By going on such outings, we did a good thing for our bodies, minds and souls.  We also did the same thing for our beloved dogs as well.  Everyone including our dogs go home extremely satisfied.  And it was such a relatively simple thing to do.  Just hop in the car with our dogs, meet at the designated area and take a leisurely stroll.

Everyone should find activities that accomplish the same types of benefits for themselves as well as for their loved ones without necessarily getting into things that are too costly or complicated.  Of course, our example with dogs is just an example.  There are many other ways without dogs that are simple in life but extremely satisfying.  Just explore and find them.

Here is the video clip – enjoy!
