Self Help Skills In Fitness

At the beginning of the summer, I posted my swim workout that I planned to do all season long as part of sharing some information related to self help skills in fitness for my readers.  Now that the outdoor pool season has just ended, a change is required to adjust my overall fitness routines for the fall season.

It was a successful summer fitness season for me as I was consistent in getting into the pool to do my swim workouts at least three times per week.  The other days involved training with weights twice per week which I was also very consistent with.  I filled the balance of the week with martial arts.

Now that I will no longer have use of an outdoor pool at home, I will have to revert to other forms of cardiovascular fitness.  This is when a new fitness schedule will be required for the entire autumn months until the winter ski season starts.  Part of successful use of self help skills is to adjust as required.

Changing Fitness Workouts By The Season

So what I plan to do is increase the number of martial arts workouts per week and actually split them into two separate workouts.  One will involve my martial arts weaponry while the other won’t (also known as empty hands).  The intensity of these martial arts workouts will provide the cardio portion of my overall fitness replacing the swim workouts I did during the summer.

So here’s what my fall season workout as part of my overall continued development of self help skills since I consider health to be an important component.

Mondays: martial arts empty hand forms

Tuesdays: martial arts weapons

Wednesdays: weights and high level stretching

Thursdays: martial arts forms

Fridays: martial arts weapons

Saturdays: open fitness (whatever fitness activity I feel like doing)

Sundays: weight and high level stretching

This weekly schedule will take me through until probably mid December when my ski season starts and there will be another adjustment required to fit in my ski days for the entire winter.
