Self Defence Tie In With Charitable Causes

The Charitable Causes I Believe In

Now that I have more free time due to my retirement from corporate life and success as a real estate investor, I will have more opportunities to do my part in the charitable causes I believe in.  For me, there are three main areas where I feel strong enough to have the desire to do my part.  The three areas below are in no particular order but as you will see, I hope to tie in my self defence training in with all of these worthy causes somehow.

Violence Against Women

The first area I will identify is violence against women.  I am completely digusted when I hear about reports where men have abused women.  So I will do my part as a man in speaking out against those who commit violence towards women and girls.

One idea I have is to teach my Effective Self Defence training seminars to enable women to protect themselves better.  On top of that, if I teach these seminars for groups and organizations, I will be willing to waive my instructor fees as long as the hosting organizations make a charitable donation to the local womens shelter or any other related charity I approve of.

I want to do my part in helping ensure that our communities have adequate shelters for any abused women (and their children) and this is the best way I know how in terms of my participation.

Racism & Bullying

Another area I feel very strong about is racism and bullying.  Although many consider these to be two separate issues, I think they are very closely related.  Not every case of bullying is racial but I think many incidents are especially when I experienced it first hand as a young child.

To me, bullying is not new even though it’s certainly in the media a lot more these days.  Bullying was certainly around when I was young and in a way, was worse since there were fewer ethnics back then here in Canada.  One of the reasons why I came out with my diversity speaking programs is to help out in this area.

Abandoned Abused Animals

The third area I feel for is in abandoned and abused animals.  As a long time dedicated pet owner, specifically of Lhasa Apso dogs, I can’t help but feel for all the poor dogs and cats abandoned by irresponsible pet owners.  Pet ownership is a big responsibility and commitment.

Having pets is one of the most enjoyable activities us humans can experience.  When done right, it really is magical in my opinion.  However, it must be done right with the proper education and training for the pet owner first, before any training is done with the actual pets.

How Self Defence Ties In

If anyone out there is active in any of the above charitable causes and would like my help, I can make myself available.  However, don’t use me as a financial contributor or ask me to work the telephones to raise funds for your charity.  That’s not how I do things and honestly speaking, would not be the best use of me for your organization.

Instead, let’s use my Karate World Champion status and self defence training knowledge to make win-win situations.  Together, we can help raise funds for these worthy causes while providing great self defence training and education to help keep your group members safe out there.

Contact me if you think we could work on a worthy project together.
