Review Of Personal Growth Books

Posted on February 1, 2011 by Clint Cora

Personal Growth Books

I mentioned some time ago that I would review some personal growth books.  Here is the first one I have reviewed.

When I was sent a review copy of the book ‘Perform Like A Rock Star And Still Have Time For Lunch’ written by Orna W. Drawas, I honestly didn’t know what the book was about judging from the title and cover.  I noticed that each chapter starts with some lyrics from a song and wondered just how much relation there was with the content of each chapter.

As I started to read this personal growth book, I realized that this book wasn’t about anything abstract at all.  Instead, I found it to be a practical book full of good ideas for the working career professional especially in today’s modern high tech world.   The book is really a guide on how to perform better in either small business or in the corporate world setting.  Therefore, it is useful for small business operators and career professionals alike.

Orna discusses the important of goal setting in the business world and how to realistically set them.  She also gets into a lot of discussion on time management during working hours.  This I thought was especially interesting because how much time most people working in companies waste in company meetings.

Although this observation is not entirely new, she does talk about time management in a very current setting because of the wasted time that many of us spend on checking and replying to emails.  Orna even gets into some great example applications on how to deal and communicate with different types of people within an organization so that time is not wasted.  Of course, she makes suggestions in a way that nobody gets offended or upset.  In other words, practical business communications advice forms a good part of this personal growth book.

‘Perform Like A Rock Star And Still Have Time For Lunch’ was an enjoyable read for me.  Personally, I don’t think the title or cover does the content any justice because I still don’t see much correlation between the content or topics contained within the book and the title.  And this is speaking from somebody who is a die-hard rock fan too.

The personal growth book is available at Amazon – just click on this link to get to that website.  Of course, my own title ‘The Life Champion In You‘, which covers a different set of topics (and therefore complementary to this book I’m reviewing), is also worthy of adding to your collection of personal growth books – it’s also available at Amazon if you enter ‘clint cora’ in their search box and the combo of these two books will probably get your free shipping :)
