More Human Diversity In The Workplace

More From Diversity In The Workplace Event

Here is more from the Asian Heritage Month event I posted on recently.  Last time, I featured some Chinese cultural dancers and indeed, the representation from this Asian group was quite high at this bank event as expected.  In addition to the dancers, there was a Chinese brush painter displaying her artwork as well as a tai chi group demonstrating their skills.

The other major Asian group well represented at this event was the Indian contingent.  There were tables featuring henna tattoos as well as Indian spices for cooking (which I eagerly took a box home).  The table food provided was a nice mix of Indian and Chinese fare.  Indeed, a few of the food items were quite spicy but well received by the attendees there.

Human Diversity Displayed In Performances

In addition to the Chinese dancers and myself who did a Chinese style martial arts kung fu routine, we also had two Indian cultural dancers to add to the human diversity mix (shown with me in the photo).  But again, much like the Chinese dancers, these Indian dancers were not immigrants as far as I could tell.

They also had Canadian accents which implied to me that these girls took up Indian dancing to rediscover a part of their cultural backgrounds.  This again, is a great thing to see.

The event’s organizers, an ethnic employee group from the bank, wanted to celebrate diversity in the workplace and promote culture within the organization.  In my mind, they did a great job with organizing the various display tables as well as recruiting the different performers.

The human diversity event was both education and entertaining to all and I think this marks the beginning of the festival season where there will be many such events put on throughout the summer in the greater Toronto area.

Diversity In The Workplace Presentations

By the way, I am available as a speaker covering the topic of diversity in the workplace, which is so important in many organizations these days.  Just see the descriptions of my available presentations in my business motivational speaker webpage.
