Mayor Hazel McCallion Meets Karate World Champion Motivational Speaker Clint Cora

Last week, I was invited to be a keynote speaker for a local Rotarac club which is an arm of Rotary International for members who are up to 29 years of age. Rotarac gives these young people opportunities to give back to their own communities by volunteering for some very worthwhile community projects. This Rotarac club had their annual dinner meeting event at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club where I was scheduled to speak. They had also invited Mayor Hazel McCallion of Mississauga but the word is that she had some scheduling conflicts.

It turns out that soon after the dinner meeting started, Mayor Hazel did in fact walk in much to the appreciation of the meeting attendees. She was squeezed into the speaking agenda and gave a great account of her observations during her recent trip to China. She told the audience that the young people here in Canada better get ready because the Chinese young people are really gearing up to be competitive on an international level. She also urged Mississauga young people to keep on doing what they are doing with Rotarac and become role models for the younger students at the local schools.

After Mayor McCallion finished her address, it was my turn and I gave a shorter version of my motivational speaker presentation. Some of the attendees who are members of local Rotary clubs have heard me before but the members of the Rotarac club and most of their guests have not.

This was the first time that Mayor Hazel McCallion was in attendance for one of my live talks and it looks like she enjoyed it. She certainly appreciated some of the jokes during my presentation at least.

After my talk, I gave her a copy of my book The Life Champion In You and we discussed how I could be of service to the city of Mississauga. One thing she said right away was to get me to speak to her teen advisory committee. I told her that since Mississauga is my home town, I would be willing to help out to make our community safer and better with my talks and status as a karate world champion motivational speaker.

Below is a photo of Mayor Hazel McCallion and I. Again, I welcome any comments you may have at my blog.
