Inspirational Short Stories

There’s been a lot of TV coverage on the news lately about the fact that we are one year from the opening of the 2012 London Olympics and our broadcasters have been putting up inspirational short stories on the athletes who are training hard to hopefully make it to London next year.  One lady in particular, a hurdler in past Olympics for Canada, is hoping to go to London despite the fact that she is two months away from giving birth.

Despite her pregnancy, she was shown on the track not running or jumping but doing these leg lifts to keep her muscle memory for hurdles.  She had a big pregnant belly but was still shown training in a way that was cleared by both her doctor and coach.  This was an example of the inspirational short stories we’ve been seeing connected to the future London Olympic games.

Olympics Always Full Of Inspirational Short Stories

This is one major reason why I love the Olympics so much, both the summer and winter versions of the games.  There are always so many inspirational short stories (and longer ones) to give you a real appreciation of what these athletes go through in life.  This in turn inspires the rest of us to do better in our own lives.

Some athletes are veterans trying to make a comeback while others are trying to get to the Olympic games for the very first time.  In both cases, it’s a very serious and long commitment to train for the Olympics.

This is in fact the major lesson we can learn from these athletes.  All of them have goals in mind whether it’s to compete in the Olympic games or if they are true contenders, win medals there.  They have made commitments to achieve these goals and are doing everything in their power to work towards achieving them.

They realize that they will never get to the Olympics if they just casually go at their training half heartedly or not train at all.  They also realize that they need the help of others including their coaches for guidance and the support of sponsors and family.  These are goals that can’t be achieved on their own as it takes a group of people to enable an athlete to finally make it to the Olympics.

These inspirational short stories from the London Olympics will be real life lessons for the rest of us as there will be things in them that we can apply for ourselves.   There were many such stories in the past Vancouver winter Olympics for sure and I made sure to document some of the more memorable ones that really moved me in a previous episode of Motivational WebTV.

If you missed my winter Olympics video, you can still see it at Inspirational Winter Olympics.
