Canadian Motivational Speaker Opinion

As a Canadian motivational speaker, I would very much like to add to my future speaking programs, a talk about real estate investing for Canadians – I also created a new rent to own program to help Canadians become homeowners.  I was touring a part of Hamilton, Ontario this week since it is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada in terms of both population and economic potential.

Most of the properties I was seeing were multi-family units consisting anywhere from two (duplex) to three (triplex) and sometimes even four (fourplex) separate units.  However, I was quite appalled by some of the properties I saw.

Canadian Motivational Speaker Says Slumlords Ruin Neighbourhoods

Many of the properties I saw were in need of much repair due to neglected maintenance.  There were a few houses with cracked windows and garbage surrounding the grounds of the properties.  In the interiors of the buildings, there were cracks and even large holes on some walls as well as ceilings.

The surprising thing is that many of these defects were in units where there were existing tenants.

How could a property owner leave his or her property in such state of repair especially when tenants who pay rent, have to live in such units?  These owners are basically being slumlords rather than responsible landlords in this Canadian motivational speaker opinion.

As a result, it’s no surprise that the tenants themselves, do not bother to keep their rental units tidy as mess is everywhere on the floors, tables and counters of each room.  It’s like they don’t care about what their homes look like anymore.

Another thing I saw a lot were tenants having to put up blankets to cover the windows since the landlords did not provide any blinds or curtains to block the sunlight.  This is the only way tenants could sleep at night.

If this Canadian Motivational Speaker ever acquired such a property, there would definitely be some basic maintenance done so that tenants could feel a bit proud of where they live.
