Amy Winehouse Dead At 27

I only heard about Amy Winehouse in the last few years through the news clips about her troubles with drugs as I never heard much of her music.  When the news broke out this weekend that she was found dead at her home in the UK at age 27, I did some research on her to learn more about her short but successful music career.

After watching a few music videos of her, I realized what an incredible talent she really was.  She had a voice that was perfectly suited for her R&B/Soul style of music which in a way is timeless.  She won Grammy awards as the music industry acknowledged her immense talent.

Her look with her beehive hairstyle, ancient Egyptian style eye makeup and her heavily tattooed arms made her very distinct in that style of musical genre.  At the same time, you can almost sense the dark side of her.  She was terribly skinny and frail looking on some of her videos as there was an unhealthy image of her in some way that I could sense.

Self Development Could Have Saved Amy Winehouse

I heard that Amy Winehouse has been in and out of rehab a few times and seemed so negative about it that she even wrote a song called ‘Rehab’.  This was the tune that she actually performed in her US debut on the Late Show with David Letterman.  This fortunately was a good example of how well she performed on stage but there have been other live performances where she appeared uncoherent and dazed, obviously under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Amy Winehouse also got mixed up with the wrong people including a former husband who was also an addict who got in trouble with the law.  Her rehab and legal troubles got as many of the headlines as her music career which is a real shame.

This shows that everyone, including immense talents like Amy Winehouse, could benefit from active self development.  If only she was serious about self development, she would have been been able to live free of substance abuse and keep her body and mind healthy.  With such incredible musical talent that she displayed at such a young age, just imagine the body of work she could have provided for the world if only she was healthy enough to live a long life.

What a waste and what a shame to lose somebody like Amy Winehouse at such a young age of 27.  Active self development could have helped not only preserve the talent she had but could have helped develop it even further since she obviously had many more years in her music career had she been healthy.

I hope Amy Winehouse is finally resting in peace away from all of her troubles and although brief, I’m glad that she gave us whatever music she did give us while she was here.  I hope that others around the world will maybe learn that active self development in both mind and body is very important for us.  Hopefully, losing such a great talent like Amy Winehouse at such a young age will never happen again.
