Personal Management Includes Being Careful In Summer Heat

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

#summer #toronto #management — We are heading into perhaps the final week of a summer heatwave up here in the Toronto area with expect daytime temperatures of 32 degrees Celcius or 89.6 degrees F.  Part of our personal management during this time is to be careful not to get sunstroke or heatstroke or even sunburns while enjoying the sunshine out there.

Plently of liquids, eye protection and use of sunscreens will be essential for safe enjoyment of the last past of our summer.  I have already mentioned this on my Life With Dogs blog since I was thinking about my own two Lhasa Apso dogs Chester and Roxie during this heatwave, is that pets and others are also prone to heatstroke if not careful.

It should be an extension of our personal management to make sure that we don’t leave our dogs, cats, children, babies (okay, even significant others), etc., inside the parked car while we are shopping inside an air conditioned mall or plaza.  Pets and children have tragically died because of this type of negligence.  Temperatures inside cars go be significantly higher than outside air temperatures especially in strong sunshine.

People have been arrested and fined heavily if caught doing this.  Worried passerbys would often call in police and animal control officers if they see poor dogs or babies left inside hot cars.

I’m not even going to take my two dogs outside during most of the daytime hours until late afternoons or even early evenings when temperatures are lower and the sunshine is not as intense.  This is part of my personal management with my dogs.

So do enjoy the last part of the summer out there but do have some personal management sense when it comes to the effects of heat and UV rays.  Don’t fall into the negligent status that some people do in terms of summer heat.

If Anybody Wants To Sell Drugs

Friday, August 6th, 2010

I hope the title of today’s blog post got your attention! But let me clarify. Some of you know that I had a former long career in the pharmaceutical industry. In fact, out of my twenty years in corporate life, fourteen of those years were in pharmaceuticals. So I thought that I would put it out there that if any of my good readers wants to sell drugs and I mean the legal prescription kind, as a possible career, I do have a lot of resources for you.

In addition to totally separate websites including another blog and a Facebook page on pharmaceutical sales, I also produced a 30 minute online webinar on pharmaceutical sales careers that people can access.

However, having said all this, the webinar and my other websites on this field will NOT be of any interest to you unless you are interested in possibly pursuing a future career in pharmaceutical sales, ie., to sell drugs legally in the medical community.

But as I said, just in case if there is anybody out there who does fit into this category, I do have a lot of industry information that will be very helpful. I held various positions in the pharmaceutical industry starting out as a drug representative, then sales trainer, followed by product marketing manager and finally a national sales manager. It was in this last position that I was responsible for hiring, managing and training pharmaceutical sales reps.

This is why I can be such a valuable resource for anybody who wants to get into this industry especially if they are from other industry backgrounds or even straight out of college.

The first place to start will be to sign up for access to my online 30 minute webinar which of course is free. Go to Pharmaceutical Sales Careers Webinar to start your journey. Again, all of this will be of no interest unless you want to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales, ie., the webinar is NOT a motivational, personal development one!

Violent Protesters At Toronto G20 Summit Shows Lack Of Emotional Intelligence

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

#toronto #g8 #g20 – When I found out some time ago that my home town Toronto was to host the G8 and G20 summits, I was quite proud in a way because in a way it showed that Toronto has definitely become world class.  However, watching the TV news coverage of the G20 and the violent protesters, I get very mixed feelings now.

Of course, not all protesters are to blame.  In fact, the vast majority are peaceful and it’s a handful of them who spoil it for the rest.  These violent trouble makers set police cars on fire, smashed retail windows in downtown Toronto and even looted some of these businesses.  The ‘handful’ actually turned out to be over 500 individuals who were arrested so far and put in a makeshift holding area which use to be a film studio in Toronto.

When I saw the video footage of these protesters who caused trouble on TV, there are certain things they all have in common.  They are often young and certainly not your success bound people either.  They certainly lack emotional intelligence.

Even if they had legitimate issues to bring up for a peaceful protest, they chose to cause trouble and commit violent acts against innocent property.  Their acts are certainly not displays of high emotional intelligence that’s for sure.  They really spoil the G8 and G20 summit events which Toronto residents (and all Canadians) should have been proud to host for the world.

I feel really bad especially for the business owners in downtown Toronto who had their establishments damaged and looted.  All three levels of government, municipal, provincial and federal have told these business beforehand that they would not cover any damages and that they should rely on insurance instead.  However, most insurance companies are not willing to cover for such events.

So many of these business owners will unfortunately be on their own for picking up the pieces, if any are left over.  I’m pretty sure that these business owners will not have fond memories of the G20 summit in Toronto.

Toronto is otherwise a great place to hold events and conferences.  Don’t let these sour events from the Toronto G20 summit prevent you from holding your event here.

Dog Grooming Pro On Motivational Self Help Book

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

#selfhelp #motivational   —  It’s interesting how people from all walks of life and different professions have come to hear my live talks as well as read my motivational self help book ‘The Life Champion In You’.  Part of my own education is to hear how they apply the success principles from my book into their own lives and work.  One reader and past attendee of one of my talks was Bill Martin who happens to be a professional dog groomer.

He and I met a few times after my initial talk when he first heard me.  He told me about how the principles in the book relate to the type of work he does which is dog grooming.  He and his wife run a dog grooming business in Ontario and he even drives a truck with graphics of two shih tzu dogs on the doors.  Of course, I just had to ask him about these since I own two lhasa apso dogs myself.

It was interesting to hear him talk about dog grooming and the skills he had to learn in order to become a professional dog groomer.  This will be of interest to all pet owners especially since we recognize the skill that groomers must have in order to do what they do with all sorts of different dogs of different breeds and sizes.

Of course, I took the opportunity to pick up a few tips of dog grooming from him as well so that I can apply these with my own two dogs.  But what you will hear in the video below is how he relates developing these dog grooming skills with my principle of comfort zone expansion in order to develop skills in any area of life that you want to improve in.

It was very interesting to know that the skills that are specific to Bill’s trade includes being able to groom the dogs without hurting them.  This is something I should certainly learn since I have been known to accidentally clip a bit too deep with my dogs.  Good thing they are both quite forgiving!

Anyway, take a look at what Bill has to say since it is quite interesting to hear somebody from a very unique profession talk about what he got out of my book.

Selfhelp Motivational Books Available At Amazon

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

#motivational #motivation #selfhelp  —  I use a secure shopping cart system to encrypt credit card information from people all over the world who order my selfhelp motivational books at my website.  The system I used was Clicshop but they just had too many downtime problems over the years so I have cancelled their service.

I’m now evaluating a new system and hope to get it in place by the end of this week.  In the meantime, anyone who is interested in getting my book The Life Champion In You can certainly order it at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chapters or even your local retail bookstore as they should be able to order it in if you quote them the ISBN number for the book which is 978-0-9809190-1-1.

The digital ebook version is through Clickbank which has their own secure shopping systems as well as online retailers like Amazon.

For the audio CD program version of my selfhelp motivational books, please either hold off until I get a secure system online later this week or if you are located within North America, you can call my office toll free  ot order it over the phone as I have a message regarding that right at my books webpage at the moment.

The audio CD programs are unfortunately not offered at any online retailer or bookstore at the moment.  So far, it was intended only as a product available exclusively through my website and of course at my live talks where I offer all of my selfhelp books and CDs to my audiences.

Amazon is a good choice to use though.  I know of a few readers who did go through Amazon to get my book and they got it within 1-2 weeks of ordering.  I haven’t heard about experiences at the other online retailers yet but I imagine they would be pretty good too since they are reputable.

Scouting Locations For Motivational Video With Karate Weapon

Friday, May 21st, 2010

#motivation #motivational #inspiration #inspirational

I was scouting possible locations yesterday for my Motivational WebTV show which of course is the online motivational video series that I do every two weeks or so for my personal development website.  Since I have a segment in my live motivational talk which involves a karate weapon bo staff, I want to include it as part of a future episode.

Possible locations suitable are in a soccer field, by the beach at the lakefront and in the woods where I usually take my two lhasa apso dogs for walks.  I usually like to have some privacy when I shoot my motivational video shows and out of these three locations, the beach would actually give me the least privacy since there are always people walking around even during weekdays.

Capturing good sound is important and a location such as the lakefront where there could be waves and wind may be factors.  The soccer field is usually okay if I pick the right times of the day when nobody will be around.  But it looks like the deep in the woods might be actually the best location for this shoot.

I have shot previous episodes in all three locations before and the woods spot was actually the best in terms of privacy, sound and lighting.  The only other factor about the woods is that I need a spot where I have enough room to work my karate weapon bo staff without hitting any bushes or trees.  Of course, the other locations would not have this type of complication.

I’ll try to shoot this motivational video episode soon and in the near future, my viewers will be able to see my bo staff in action along with an associated motivational message to go along with it.

Going To T. Harv Eker Millionaire Mind Intensive Seminar?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

#personaldevelopment  – Even though I present a lot of motivational and diversity talks to audiences these days, I still believe in attending other people’s events as part of my own continuing personal development and self growth.  I will be attending a program in New York City in October but I also noticed that the T. Harv Eker Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar is coming to Toronto in June.

This would be convenient since I live about 20 minutes away from the seminar site for the Toronto Millionaire Mind Intensive.  I’ve never been to this event but have met quite a few people who have and they rave about it.  Some have even been to this event several times.

Like other weekend type of bootcamp events, this one will be quite intensive in terms of duration with long hours for three days.  So if I do attend this one, it will definitely take up my entire weekend and more for sure.

However, it is a great opportunity since there is no need to travel and the price is right.  I’ve attended other weekend bootcamps where the cost was $2,000 and the Millionaire Mind Intensive promotes a $97 fee.

When I go to events for my own personal development and self growth, they are not all about motivation or wealth building.  A good example is this past weekend when I attended the Photo Video Imaging Show here in Toronto.  I like to mix up the topics a bit for my education.

What about you?  Have you or are you attending a Millionaire Mind Intensive event near you?  I would love to hear your comments if you have already been to one.  Just leave them in the comments section below.

More Motivational Videos To Be Shot In California

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

#motivational #california  —-   I’m just planning out my future trip to California in late June where I will be a speaker at a huge college conference in San Diego.  I will have a few days there traveling between Los Angeles and San Diego plus I’ll spend an afternoon south of the border in Tijuana, Mexico as well since I’ve never been there.  Since I will be on the Pacific coast, this will give me a chance to shoot some more motivational videos right be the beaches of California!

This will really be offsite location shooting for my Motivational WebTV series since pretty well all of the show is shot in the Toronto area so far.  It would be really neat to have some scenes and maybe even complete episodes shot elsewhere.

Since we have become so visually oriented online, I figure that some interesting background scenes will only enhance the episodes, especially if they are going to be motivational videos.

I know that there are also some interesting Spanish architecture down in the San Diego area and they might be possible location shots as well.  Of course, there are the theme parks such as SeaWorld, Disney and others but I’m not sure if I want to spend an entire day at one of those.  Besides, I’ve already been to most of the California theme parks down there anyway.

So far, I have 9 episodes of Clint Cora Motivational WebTV completely shot and edited with 7 of them aired.  The next one will be up late next week.  If you haven’t seen any of the 7 episodes already up or missed an episode, you can catch them at an archive webpage for this series of motivational videos.

Good Self Help Book By Andrew Skelly

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Since I believe in always learning for growth, I just finished reading The Amazing Millionaire Formula by Andrew Skelly.  It’s a great read and I recommend it.  What I really found interesting was the emphasis on reaching out to others to help you become successful.  For more details on The Amazing Millionaire Formula, just click on the image below.

The next book I’m reading is The Facebook Era by Clara Shih.
